Financing questions
We do not offer financing. We do work with lenders.
Swifty's Auto Sales is not a lender and has no in-house or buy-here-pay-here financing. If you need a loan to buy a vehicle from us, you have two options.
Use your own bank or credit union. Get a pre-approval and bring the letter.
Ask Stephen to work with lenders. He sends your application to lenders for you. They decide whether to approve it and on what terms.
Common questions
Does Swifty's Auto Sales offer financing?
No. We do not lend money and we do not offer in-house or buy-here-pay-here financing. Stephen can work with lenders to help you get financing for a vehicle you buy here. The lender makes the credit decision and sets the rate and terms.
How does it work if I need a loan?
There are two ways. You can get approved at your own bank or credit union and bring the letter. Or you can tell Stephen you need financing and he will work with lenders on your behalf. Either way, pick the vehicle first, or at least the price range, so the lender knows how much to approve.
Should I get pre-approved before I shop?
It helps. A pre-approval tells you how much you can borrow and what the payment looks like before you fall for a vehicle you cannot afford. It does not obligate you to use that lender.
What do lenders ask for?
Usually a photo ID, proof of income such as recent pay stubs, proof of where you live, and proof of insurance. They also want details on the vehicle, such as the VIN and mileage. Self-employed buyers may be asked for more.
Will applying affect my credit?
A lender checks your credit when you apply, and that can show up on your report. Ask Stephen how many lenders he plans to send your application to before he sends it.
Can I get financed with bad credit or no credit?
Some lenders work with lower credit scores and first-time buyers, and some do not. Terms are usually tougher. Call and give Stephen the full picture. Nobody can promise approval, and we will not.
How much do I need for a down payment?
It depends on the lender, your credit and the vehicle. A larger down payment lowers the amount you borrow and can help you get approved. Your trade-in can count toward the down payment if it is worth more than you owe on it.
Who sets the interest rate?
The lender does. The rate depends on your credit, the length of the loan, the age and mileage of the vehicle, and how much you put down. Compare the rate and the total cost of the loan, not just the monthly payment.
Is there a limit on vehicle age or mileage?
Many lenders limit how old a vehicle can be or how many miles it can have. Ask before you fall in love with a specific vehicle.
I live in Virginia. Can I still finance?
Often yes, but it depends on the lender. Many banks and credit unions lend across the state line. Call and ask.
Swifty's Auto Sales is not a lender. Financing, when available, is provided by independent lenders and is subject to credit approval. Rates and terms vary by lender and buyer.
