Questions about buying
What are your hours, and do I need an appointment?
We are open Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 5:00. You do not need an appointment. If Stephen is not at the lot or you want to come after hours, call 336-932-2515. He lives less than 15 minutes away.
Can I take a test drive?
Yes. Call ahead if you can so the vehicle is ready, and bring your driver's license.
Can my own mechanic look at a vehicle before I buy it?
You are welcome to have a mechanic you trust inspect any vehicle. Tell Stephen when you call and he will work out a time with you.
What is the Buyers Guide on the window?
Federal law requires dealers to post a Buyers Guide on every used vehicle for sale. It tells you whether the vehicle is sold as is or with a warranty, and what the dealer will cover. Read it before you buy, and ask Stephen if anything on it is unclear.
Do your vehicles come with a warranty?
The Buyers Guide on each vehicle answers that. Many used vehicles are sold as is, which means you pay for repairs after the sale. Ask before you sign so there are no surprises.
How can I check a vehicle's history?
Ask for the VIN. You can use it to order a vehicle history report from any provider you like, and to check for open recalls on the NHTSA recall lookup at nhtsa.gov/recalls. Ask Stephen what he knows about the vehicle's past owners and any work done to it.
What is the out-the-door price?
It is the total you pay: the price of the vehicle, any dealer fees, taxes, and title and registration charges. Ask for it in writing before you commit so you can compare it with any other quote.
What should I bring to buy a vehicle?
Bring your driver's license, proof of insurance for the vehicle you are buying, and how you plan to pay. If you are financing through your own bank or credit union, bring the pre-approval letter. If you are trading in a vehicle, bring the title and keys.
Do you sell to people in Virginia and other states?
Yes. We sell to buyers across North Carolina and southern Virginia. You register the vehicle in your home state, and your state's DMV sets the tax, title and registration charges. Call before you drive down and Stephen will go over the paperwork with you. See the Virginia page for more.
Can I trade in my current vehicle?
Yes. Tell Stephen about your trade when you call so he can look it over. More on that is on the sell your car page.
How do I find out what you have on the lot?
Check the inventory page for vehicles posted online. Stephen often has vehicles on the lot that are not posted yet, so a phone call is the fastest way to hear what is there.
Swifty's Auto Sales is not a lender. Financing, when available, is provided by independent lenders and is subject to credit approval. Rates and terms vary by lender and buyer.
